Man U's High Risk Players.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
14 August 2010 marks the return of the English Premiership. Players will be fatigued after the World Cup that came before they had enough rest. A lot of palyers will either be carrying injuries or be prone to such.
Manchester United's Owen Hargreaves is one of Sir Alex Ferguson high risk tools in a list dating long back. I have not been a great fan of Owen. I first learnt of him in the end days of Liverpool's Macca. Steve McManaman was the toast of England during the 90s, and few people rated Owen as one in the making. I think there was an issue with his Englishness then. Anyway, this guy hasn't played much diski in a long while and I doubt he will ever do. He is said to be in USA for surgery and may take long to recover. It's just a hope.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was a player who I enjoyed watching, like many other people around the world. This one pained me even if I never sympathised with Manchester United. His sheer quality and exquisite touches and goal scoring prowess appealed to friends and foes alike. He was such a jewel and it was such a big loss that he never realised his full playing potential.
Before Ole, Quinton Fortune was one other Man U hospital permanent dweller. He had potential to be a 'hard as teak' replacement of Paul Ince. The South African did not even feature much for his country despite his high-profile status as a Premiership player. Other players for them later on were Louis Saha and Michael Owen. You are sure to see more as time goes by.
A few other clubs are catching the same flu. Theo Walcott is one for Arsenal and England will really need him to play more often as Fabio Capello will be compelled to look into the future with youngsters. Fernando Torres seems to be the Liverpool's hospital's permanent resident. He is at pains trying to convince the world that his World Cup poor form was due to injury.
Which other players were badly hit by injuries?
