The Coaching Course Rahman Gumbo Attended.

As a Railstars FC coach leading the team to promotion from Division 1 to the Premiership being a Level 2 course intsructor for coaches was a tough concortion to take but enjoyable at the same time. This was one large class and one of the most powerful.

This class of coaches had Rahman Gumpo, a former national team player and Bosso coach who won local championships during the late 1990 and early 2000 at will and later went on to do so in Malawi and lately Botswana. There was a former Eagles, Hunyani and Highlanders dribbler,  Clement Balanda, a reputable coach and administrator, Siphatho Ncube who coaches Highlanders Royals as well as being elected a Bosso committee member a few years back.

Former Highlanders Chairmen and the most successful manager Ernest Maphepha Sibanda, was also a member of that great class. Maphepha went on to be national team manager, as was former Sports and Recreation Council Southern Region boss, Brian Moyo. Moyo is currently in the Southern Region ZIFA board and was involved in national cricket.

It was incredible working with Bekezela Maduma-Fuzwayo, Emmett Ndlovu, a former Bosso medic and national team doctor with great talent. Ndlovu also became Team Manager of Bantu Rovers. Philani Mabhena, Kona Tshabangu and Mebelo Mbewe were some of the great coaches and respected people who were part the big group of talented people.

Any faces you can recognise in the picture?

Liverpool Is Going Down. Gerrard, Torres and Johnson 'Taken'.

[caption id="attachment_2349" align="alignright" width="468" caption="Liverpool's bank accounts empty."][/caption]

Far East products usually came in the poorest of qualities and labelled 'Made in Hong Kong'. Being fake of the big brands, the lingo processing machines coined the word 'Fong Kong' to describe any product from the east. It may have been the reason why Liverpool owners snubbed the earlier Chinese buyer who was labelled a pretender.

There was a lot of other possibilities that were never news. The past week brought a 'signed, sealed and delivered' case with the Boston Red Sox basketball team owners of USA making the 'final' bid. Tom Hicks and George Gillett who ran Liverpool to the ground, challenged the transactions because they wanted more money for the business they destroyed. Kop Holdings, their company, faces liquidation.

The issue turned from being business to a legal matter as Hicks and Gillett went to court. Their decision quickly changed the landscape once more as it turned out to have footballing implications. The fact that their company was facing liquidation means Liverpool would be under administration. Liverpool football club are spending their days in the murky relegation waters, and this would cause a 9 point deduction from The Reds by the Premiership. The Bible talks of 'to who have little, even that little they has shall be taken away from them'. You can be assured the Merseyside will not be reading that verse for a while.

Liverpool can play in the Coca Cola championship for several years and never walk alone. Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and Glen Johnson will then join Tottenham Hotspur. Actually, Torres can join Manchester United. Harry Redknapp would prefer David Ngog or Ryan Babel. He will be cover to the injury-prone Jermaine Defoe. The rest can take leave until the team comes back from oblivion.

While we are counting the eggs knowing the chicks are around the corner as the incubator optimum temperature and timer are ticking, a Singapore business man, Peter Lim, who was an earlier pretender, is carrying a spanner to throw into the works just to delay Liverpool's fall. This will make them fall slowly and without breaking too much bone. We call the process, breaking the fall.He has pledged to pay much more than he wanted the first time around.

Let's start bidding for the players. Gerrard, Johnson and Ngog are taken.

Euro 12 Results: France Good But Sweat.

- 0

Niko Kranjcar scored twice for Croatia as they a 2-1 win over Israel in Tel Aviv topping Group F in Euro 2012 qualifying. Kranjcar scored from the penalty spot in the 36th minute before netting the second 4 minutes before half-time with an excellent low shot. Etay Shechter was on target as Israel pulled a goal back in the 81st minute giving them hope for a late equaliser that never came.

France had to dig very deep to pull off a fantastic victory when substitutes Loic Remy and Yoann Gourcuff  came in and turned a match on its head. France collected three points against very stubborn Romanian side that threatened to steal the glamour at the Stade de France. Nasri was in good form and Laurent Blanc was a happy man as side topped Euro 2012 qualifying Group D. Romania had the post crushing their hopes before France hit the cross-bar.

Northern Ireland were involved in a strong contest with Italy. They were left dejected at failing to beat 2006 world champions Italy who were up for the taking in a match at Windsor Park. A full house witnessed as the big bulls fired blanks for a 0-0 draw.

Scotland  defended badly and allowed Roman Hubnik's header to give Czech Republic a 1-0 win over their Grou I match at Prague. Reports of a 'ultra-defensive 4-2-2-2 formation with no recognised striker' were given as an excuse. It is not necessary to dwell on that 'formation' as it is just figures. It is normal for anyone to confuse people who do not know by fancy language that means nothing.

The 'Truth' About Tom Saintfeit Saga: I Fear Warriors Sabotage.

A divided house shall not stand, so does the Bible say and that fact is divine. Tom Saintfeit had a cool job in Namibia and parted ways with them after signing a cooler contract with the Zimbabwe national association, albeit amid in-fighting concerning his suitability. Like many of us who are not fans of foreign coaches who have come into the continent since World War 11 to impart their expertise to African coaches so that Africa can be self-sufficient-cum-reliant, the feeling that the trend will end 24 hours before the end times makes it a bitter pill to swallow.

Finally, he was appointed and is with us until yet another controvential expat signs another contract, again to impart his knowledge to local coaches. That having been a potential moral version of the excuse not to appoint the Belgian, we need to get closer to the truth. The actual truth is lethal, so we will scurry wide and long  in the periphery. For Saintfeit, Namibia is a better footballing nation. That is also the opinion of FIFA statistics mechanism that provide the ranking. That is one motivation for Tom to cross the floor. Everybody knows that when it comes to football, even my Bafana Bafana rank below the Warriors. They have been COSAFA Champions umpteenth times.

The Far East betting syndicates have been biting deep into the Southern African nation football, injecting toxic cash that has addicted a few fellows in Zimbabwe. The issue set in the rot that saw a few football officers, players and journalists being questioned by the football authorities. The Far East money has no doubt been sweet, and may have had strings attached. This would be why the bone of contention over the coach's appointment may have lied. The problem with this assumption is that it would imply that local coaches are either corrupt or can be influenced. Given the two scenarios, a betting syndicate will surely prefer a local to an expatriate, all things equal. This does not mean the expat will not eat Nando's.

Events extrapolated to an extent that Saintfeit's stay in that country was deemed illegal hence he had to be deported. That was in line with the nation's immigration laws that state that he had to be outside the country while his papers are being sorted out. The work-permit is not guaranteed. Given the circumstances preceding his appointment, success will be a miracle, at least before Sunday's Cape Verde fixture in Harare. Perhaps, that will be enough for the parties that may desire to see the local coach in charge. There has been a few cases of expat coaches being fast-tracked to get on with their jobs and I am not sure if their cases were as pressing as this one.

That said, the Technical Committee in charge of Competitions and National Teams must be recommended to act above-board. In terms of coaching qualifications, Norman Mapeza struggled with the CAF C License course, but he had been at the helm of the Warriors. His co-assistant, Madinda Ndlovu was elevated to take over as the Warriors coach until Saintfeit papers are issued, if the application for his work-permit is successful. This pushes back any doubts of whether the deportation of Saintfeit was to benefit Mapeza. As it turns out, Mapeza is still playing second fiddle. It now remains to be seen how much support and input Madinda will have to do a better job.

As it is, Ndlovu will draw comparison with Mapeza, and anyone who knows Ndlovu will tell you he does not any bull from anyone. If he does well, there will still be a battle of who is the blue-eyed one. Mapeza did a respectable job with the Warriors in the last match in a 1-1 draw in Liberia. If Madinda wins and being more qualified and more experienced, will have a nod ahead of Mapeza for whatever contest anyone will want to place between the two. As far as I can see, there is no problem now and in the future between these professional men.

Tom Saintfeit's case does not help him as he had romped someone with links of the Far East's betting syndicates. The reports from The Chronicle stated that he had brought in a CAF/FIFA Goalkeeping specialist who had done time for corrupt deals in Singapore.  German national Lutz Pfannestiel, who served a five-month jail term in Singapore and had a one-year worldwide ban from all football activities imposed by Fifa for match-fixing, was deported back to his native country.  Maybe this particular leopard had changed it spots, I can not say. Tom may not have known that his friend was an ex-con with a lapsed FIFA ban. What would have FIFA said if Warriors goalkeepers were terribly off-form?

And to those who actually assume the deportation of the substantive coach was supposed to benefit Mapeza as an individual may be right, and if they are, and now that it didnt', does that mean the forces at work will feel heartbroken to derail the whole train just because it is not Mapeza in charge, or will sanity prevail that at least there is a cool head of an independent opinion who should have been there a long while before now? What do you think?

Bosso Guns Down The Reigning Champions 2-1 To Go 8th.

[vodpod id=Video.4589846&w=425&h=350&fv=%26rel%3D0%26border%3D0%26]

'Bosso vs Dembare violence video - we hope this is the last we have seen. God bless Mr Cooper!'

Highlanders landed valuable points by gunning down Gunners in a famous away 2-1 victory. Mkhuphali Masuku took the bull by its horns to pull off a nerve settling win that lifted the spirits of Bosso. Zeph Ngodzo scored with just 5 minutes before half time from a corner kick situation.

Poor defending let the Bulawayo side take the opportunity with open arms to go one up. Gunners were never going to let it go without a fight as Norman Maroto drew a goal back through a 65th minute header. Interim coach, Mr Cooper, kept his cool during this tricky spell and his charges restored order four minutes later when Rahman Kutsanzira finished off a pass from Francis Kanda for a deserved win.

There had been worries after Mohammed Fathi left Bosso with a $30 000 invoice to be settled by a certain hour of day. The Egyptian resigned this week siting family problems and was temporarily by Masuku. A victory over the champions will be sweet and is a psychological boost for the team that needs to lift themselves up for a challenge in the ZAOGA Jubilee Celebration Cup against Dynamos soon. Thanks Mr Cooper and we wish you many more wins. I am now going to cry until the morning.(via the Bosso Blog)
