Zimbabwe international striker, Kingston Nkhatha, scored his second goal in as many league matches to inspire Kaizer Chiefs to a 2-1 win over Mamelodi Sundowns at Soccer City last night. Nkhatha was also on target in the 6-0 win over Amazulu. The powerful forward continued a purple patch for Zimbabwean strikers that has seen Knowledge Musona, Edward Sadomba and Cuthbert Malajila all on target in foreign lands in the past week.
Sadly, Nkhatha, just like Malajila and Sadomba, remain on the sidelines when it comes to international duty as part of the investigations into the Asiagate match-fixing scandal.
Musona has been drafted into the Warriors ahead of a 2013 Nations Cup qualifier against Angola in Harare next month but his appearance remains doubtful after a fallout with authorities over match-fixing allegations.
An inspired performance by Siyabonga Nkosi, which saw him score the opening goal and create the second, gave Chiefs their win.
There was joy for Zimbabwean coach, Sunday Chidzambwa, as his plucky Black Leopards held out to a 2-2 draw against Bidvest Wits, away from home, to take their tally to four points in two games.
Rodney Ramagalela scored the equaliser as Black Leopards came back from being 2-1 down after taking an early lead at the Bidvest Stadium. Nkosiyabo Xakane had given Leopards the lead before the Clever Boys scored two quick goals at the end of the first half through Calvin Kadi and Ryan Chapman.
At Soccer City, Nkosi opened the scoring before he had a hand in Nkhatha's headed goal.
But Sundowns replied through Clayton Daniels, although many thought the goal will go down as a Itumeleng Khune own goal.
Sundowns will feel hard done by for not getting at least a point from a game in which they enjoyed a lot of possession.
