Downs turn down Xulu's deal

Siyanda Xulu's agent has confirmed that the defender will be staying at Mamelodi Sundowns after the club turned down a final bid from Russian club, FC Rostov.

The Siya crew reported earlier this month that Downs had rejected a €400,000 (R4 million) offer from the Russians and that The Brazilians were looking for more from Rostov.

However, despite the Russian side coming back with an offer believed to be in the region of around R5 million for the 20-year-old, the final bid has been rejected and Xulu will remain at Chloorkop.

The player's agent, Paul Mitchell, told the Siya crew, "I can confirm that three offers have been rejected, and now the final offer has been rejected by Mamelodi Sundowns. It's very disappointing for the player, but he's a Sundowns player and they've got a valuation in their mind.

"However, unfortunately the local market is not conducive to the European market.  As always, Siyanda will continue to give his all for Sundowns and also Bafana Bafana if given the chance."

It remains to be seen whether Xulu will get the opportunity to impress in a Sundowns shirt this season, or whether he will spend more time languishing on their bench.
