Liverpool transfer news

This Is Anfield : Thursday's LFC Transfer Rumours: Liverpool officials meet Sahin agent & Dempsey latest

Liverpool are looking to tempt Real Madrid winger Nuri Sahin away from his proposed move to Arsenal at the eleventh hour and convince him to sign for the Reds, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

Brendan Rodgers has been trying to convince Sahin to join him on Merseyside in a year long loan deal, with the Gunners also making a move for an identical deal in recent weeks.

Rodgers is hoping that Arenal's lure of Champions League football won't be the ultimate deciding option between the two deals on the table.

Balague tweeted his followers earlier today, revealing, "We do know now why Sahin hasnt accepted yet the loan deal to Arsenal. His agent met yesterday Anfield owners. He wants all info on table."

Fulham have launched a formal complain to the Premier League over Liverpool's pursuit of striker Clint Dempsey.

The Cottagers have been told by Dempsey that he no longer wishes to play for them and the American international has been left out of their last two squads by manager Martin Jol.

Fulham's complain relates back to comments made by Rodgers earlier this summer when he confirmed to journalists that Dempsey was a player they'd made enquiries about.

Liverpool's attempts to sign the 29-year-old were put on hold in June when they were put off by Fulham's asking price and he remains a Fulham player.

Meanwhile, as we reported earlier today, Rodgers has inisted that he won't be allowing Andy Carroll to go on loan to Newcastle this season, nor sell him for a cut-down price.

Carroll's future at Liverpool looks uncertain but Rodgers is eager the Reds aren't ripped off in the transfer market should be sold, as they look to recover some of the £35million outlay spent on him last January.
