Chippa United communications manager, Nkosinathi Nqanda, told the Siya crew that their plan is to replace Manqoba Mngqithi with Roger Sikhakhane.
It was reported this morning on the Soccer-Laduma web and mobi-site that the Cape-based side has made contact with Bay United head coach, Vladislav Heric, however according to Nqanda, the club has earmarked Sikhakhane to reclaim his position on the bench.
Mngqithi was sacked on Wednesday after being in charge of the PSL newcomers for only two Absa Premiership outings. Ironically, the former AmaZulu coach took over from Sikhakhane when he was appointed head coach of the Chilli Boys last month.
"When we started we had a coach who was sick. I am talking about (Roger) Sikhakhane. We are leaving today (Thursday) to go and check Sikhakhane's condition. We think that having Sikhakhane on our side will add value to what he was doing last season. The coaches that have the experience tend to have a tendency of having this bossy attitude of not needing advice. Our aim right now is to look at Sikhakhane's situation.
"If he is progressing very well, we can have JD (Julius Dube) in charge up until Sikhakhane recovers fully. But if it's difficult for him then we can look for options," said Nqanda.
Nqanda confirmed that Sikhakhane is currently being looked after at a hospital in KwaZulu-Natal. The Chippa Mpengesi-owned club travel to Limpopo to meet with Black Leopards in their next league game, on September 02.
