News reaching the Siya crew is that Chippa United have made contact with coach Vladislav Heric with a view of appointing him as their new head coach.
The PSL newcomers parted ways with Manqoba Mngqithi on Wednesday afternoon, the day after the team's 2-1 Absa Premiership loss to Free Sate Stars. Chippa suffered defeat in their first two games of the campaign, having lost 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns on the opening day of the season, and the club's management were reportedly unhappy with the results.
Mngqithi's sacking has surprised the South African football fraternity, with the former AmaZulu and Golden Arrows mentor having lasted only two rounds of league action in charge of the Chippa bench.
Chippa official, Nukanyo Mzinzi, told the Siya crew yesterday that the club decided to let the coach go after failing to deliver in their opening two fixtures.
According to Soccer-Laduma sources, the PSL side has now made contact with Heric, hoping to bring the Serbian aboard. The source says that the club believes that the former Black Leopards coach can change the team's fortunes around.
Heric was roped in by Bay United during the offseason, replacing David Bright on the bench, and it remains to be seen if the side are willing to release Heric from his contract.
