Motor Action 1
Gweru Referee Thomas Masaa decided to spoil a game that promised so much and put up an abysmal showing as Bosso's relentless march towards the championship crown continued unabated. He made baffling calls throughout the day and was clearly biased against the home side. It was one of the worst refereeing ever seen at BF.
Bosso made it 20games unbeaten since the start of the season and the championship glory edged ever closer. Yesterday's game served to show however the kind of obstacles that we will need to overcome in the remaining 10 games. Kelvin Kaindu's men have to be mentally tough to overcome such adversaries that lie in wait.
Late comers missed both our goals as we got them very early in the contest. With our first real meaningful attack, the ball bubbled in the box and Bhekimpilo Ncube was on hand to rifle home a rocket like shot. His somersault celebrations were equally as spectacular as the goal. 1 nil we led.
Missing the services of Milton through suspension we had Graham & Chikaka upfront. The latter was up handed in the box moments later & the line man next to the action signalled for a penalty. Masaa had no choice but to concur. Normally a defender who is a last man, rugby tackles a forward who is through on goal the result is a penalty plus a dismissal. However the ref could only book him. Up stepped Ariel Sibanda to dispatch the spot kick. 2 nil.
Bosso were displaying some lovely, flowing football frequently disturbed by the whistle trigger happy ref who blew for fouls at the slightest nudge by players. It ceased to be a contact sport.
Ariel produced a save of the day when the Motor Action work-horse, Yves Ebabali`s powerful shot was somehow stopped right on the line.
The second period saw an early penalty awarded to visitors in what was seen by many as a soft one to give by the bungling Masaa. The Motor Action forward went down from the slightest contact & that was all Mr. Ref needed to give a 'tit for tat' spot kick. Ariel dived low to his right but the spot kick had been powerfully struck. The visitors then resorted to an over the top physical game which went unpunished. Youngster Ndiweni was body checked after beating his marker & sent tumbling down but the ref saw nothing wrong. Bosso medics worked overtime treating our players following reckless tackle after another. We finished with ten men after substitute, Honest Moyo was on the end of a nasty tackle which went unpunished. The contentious moment of the half came when graham was put through and when he was abt to take aim he was felled in the box. The far side assistant ref signalled a penalty but the Masaa was the only man at BF to think otherwise & instead he shocked all & sundry by booking the sprawling striker on the turf.
The fans were agitated, the ref had stolen the show. The game fizzled out & there was a cameo debut for new boy Cleopas Dube.
It was game number 20 unbeaten & the championship assault continued unabated. Bring on number 21.
