Zim referees Colluded with teams to throw Matches.

THIRTEEN players and officials have been banned for life from football and 80 others have been suspended after being found guilty of match fixing, the Zimbabwe Football Association said Tuesday.

Speaking at the same function where Justice Ahmed Ebrahim addressed journalists and ZIFA board members on the outcome of investigations into Asiagate, Dube came out guns blazing and vowed to wipe out all match-fixing activities that are taking place in the local league.

There are numerous acknowledged and unconfirmed reports of referees colluding with teams to throw matches.

Dube said his office had received reports that referees were aiding in the fixing of matches in the local league, and challenged Dumiso Gumede, a top ZIFA official, to look into the matter.

"We have received all these reports (about) match-fixing in our local league. Gumede, you are now the Chairman of the Referees Committee and your territory is not spared either. We have been told that referees are aiding in match fixing. Please take this seriously; we are not happy with the standard of officiating that our referees are displaying," Dube said.

"We have been told that some referees sympathize with certain teams. Can those that have been doing that stop at once before the long hand of the law catches up with them," added Dube.
