Kaizer Chiefs Are The Telkom Cup Champions.

Kaizer Chiefs beat Orlando Pirates after a penalty shoot-out, 4-3 after a 1-1 to lift the Telkom Charity Cup.

The Telkom Charity Cup introduced a fresh football season at Soccer City which was packed as usual. The 4 most publicly voted teams, Amazulu, Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs entertained the South African crowd in a 3 game all-day gala.

The Buccaneers kicked Usuthu out and Amakhosi blasted Sundowns by a similar 1-0 score-line. The pre-season tournament saw a few new signings introduced by the teams. Players coming from a long off-season exhibited heavy legs as the day wore on and coaches had opportunities to fine-tune a few strategies.

The Amakhosi will be banking a cool check from Telkom, while the Sea Robbers will be repairing the ship for a mission in deeper seas. Amazulu recruited an astute coach in Manqoba Mgqithi, hoping he will make a difference.

It will be a hard season for Mamelodi as their sun went down despite their array of talented stars. It may not be a true reflection of things to come but I can tell you the teams would do with the cash.

It may be a 'ladies first' for Chiefs to get this one as Pirates fans will attest that it's over until the Happy People are done partying. The Glamour Boys will throw the 'Amakhosi for Lunch' ridicule at the sinking Sea Robbers who are firing blanks, with the 'General' Teko Modise so general. They may just be dry bones.

Do you think this is the year for Amakhosi to win the League? For now, Viva the Champions.
