Highlanders reveal the truth about Fathi's qualifications.

In a case of buying a fully packaged leather pants in a street corner, Highlanders executive never saw expatriate and forex earning Mohammed Fathi's certificates. Former Highlanders coach, Fathi, is due to go to Egypt soon, but first his former employer must cough up big time. Fathi's permit to stay in the country expires next Monday, but he can leave because he is too broke to pay for his ticket and of course, Bosso owe him big time. There is no way he can leave his money behind.

What me and you know is that Fathi os owed $30 000 by Bosso and that the same Bosso owes him $15 100. Someone seems to be lying to us, but then, the matter is having both the labour and lega law touches and retouches. The club admits owing the Egyptian only their figure for services he rendered to the club. However, the club seems to also admit what we have always suspected all along, that the coach was not up to scratch and the club was taking us for a ride. Fathi failed to avail during his term of employment copies of his certificates on whose strength he had been engaged, and Tshilamoya now claim that the level of remuneration was set on the basis of his alleged high qualifications.

What is interesting is that when the team was not performing, the Executive Committee were adamant the coach was suitable and knowledgeable, however Bosso submitted that having failed to produce his certificates, they feel justified in suspecting that they do not exist. Now they are crying foul and feeling duped because Fathi misrepresented facts to Amahlolanyama hence the value of his labour is reduced by half. His salaries for July, August and September this year were reduced to just US$9 100.

Highlanders accept owing him signing on fees of US$2 500 plus US$399, which they had deducted for a purported industrial action. At this stage, the Bosso lawyers are holding these arguements firmly while Fathi's representative have their side as well. In responce to the arguments, they noted that there was a concession by the club that they owe Fathi US$15 100, saying at law, a concession cannot be withdrawn and adding that the club was not entitled to demand qualifications from Fathi after the termination of the contract.

They argue that the duty of proof of his qualifications lies with the club but then, just because he is no longer under their employment, he has no duty to tender anything to them. The Labour Office President is said to have asked both sides' representatives to make written submissions within two weeks before a ruling on Fathi’s application to have the US$15 000 in full can be made.

By then, Fathi is supposed to have gone home. The labour court said Bosso must pay for his flights. As it sounds to me, Fathi may get his $15 100 by next week as per court ruling and the contest the remaining amount. Maybe they should extend Fathi's permit so he can coach the Warriors and forget about the complicated Tom Saintfeit case.

On the same juicy note, Zimbabwe Soccer Coaches Association are worried about a 'home-made Ben Kofi'. This dubious character they are investigating is luring aspiring coaches to attend his soccer coaching clinics. The course costs US$200 for the courses thay say is run by a certain guy from the National University of Science and Technology (Nust). People are warned that the unsanctioned course certificates are invalid.

Since I was hoping to run an on-line coaching course, it seems I am against a wall before I start, however, Zisca coaching courses cost US$60 for Level 1, US$80 for Level 2, US$100 Level 3 and US$150 Level 4. How much would you cough up for a quality coaching certificate of international standards?
