Forget New Year resolutions, make money.

Happy New Year to our readers and followers. I had enough fruits in 2011 to look for a fruitful year ahead. Samuel Eto'o earns GBP 350 000,00 for a Monday to Sunday regular shift, annually totalling GBP 1 400 000 only, at Russia's Anzhi Makhachkala. You could be making this yourself, or you did, but I will.

Besides printing my book this year, I will be attending a very high-profile coaching course in Europe later in the year, which I hope to fund from the sale of the book. You can order dozens of the book in advance and hopefully I can make the list below.

This is good money, at least for me, because I do not have expensive taste, so amassing some 40 or 50 million would not be an issue with my bank balance, except there would be concerns of security with my local bank.

Now that the World Cup is over, England can beat anybody. The excitement of any of their victories will prove a wasted one, given they will begin to struggle with Euro qualification and then Capello will be fired and a new coach will take them to the next tourney.

Those with a tendency, that booing tendency, waste as much breath only they exhale bad breath booing the perennial under achievers. Wembley is a football revolution house. Boo'ers must behave or jump!

The big story of note is ever to believe a big man like David Beckam can retire from international football, or be told he is too old to play for England. Capello has guts. England may have won the World Cup if he ate or drank whatever made him to announce that decision before the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

It is still fresh in us how South Africa drew 1-1 against Mexico on June 11, 2010. Mexico drew with World Champions, Spain in their international friendly yesterday. Simple logic, South Africa could have been World Champions because they are just as good.

France rookies got a baptism of fire loosing 2-1 by a team that did not go nowhere near the World Cup. Norway won 2-1. Germany were reduced to ordinary pedestrians by the Denmark side.

The World Cup finalist Holland managed only a 1-1 draw at the Ukraine.  Just to prove how over the World Cup is, Cameroon can tell you where the goals are. In one match, they accessed that route successfully thrice against poor Poland.

The Nigeria Super Eagles failed to fly totally from South Africa. A solid Korean Republic performance clipped their wings. A 2-1 result leaves a sour taste in the Africans' way forward, but against the Koreans, it was never an easy game.

The big one worth the space here was the Bafantastic Bafantasic crew who gave a new Coach a warm welcome with a win over the Black Stars of Ghana. Pitso Mosimane acknowledged the scrappy affair but was happy South Africa got the 1-0 victory.

It was such a surprise to see Italy exit the 2010 FIFA World Cup in such a big hurry. It will take a long while to understand that a man blessed with the enviable psychic gift of the famous Paul The Octopus, Cannavaro, is their Captain.

Fabio Cannavaro predicts John Terry being axed by Fabio Capello before the next England campaign. He foresees England doing better later on, endorsing the FA decision to keep Capello. That is rocket science and coming from Italia, we can only say "Priceless".

David Beckam's desire to see Ronaldinho in the LA Galaxy books is a visionary and progressive action Americans need to heed seriously. Few believe the Brazilian is spent. I think so too. His sale-by date is around the corner and he will do good for the MLS.

2010 FIFA World Cup: So Far.

The South Africa 2010 FIFA World Cup has only 8 games to go. 56 games have been played. The highlights for fans and media were the refereeing decisions.

The most interesting and intriguing development so far is the Nigerian government's banning of football from international competition. This is meant to sort out the mess and the rot. In my view, 5/5. All African nations should be looking at that very seriously, or else, they must shape up now.

England have worse problems now than playing well in the World Cup. The Queen may do them the same favour and even cancel the Olympics. There is the opinion of Maradonising the English game. We all know that the only thing Diego has is his history, no technical or tactical know how for the legend. The nearest thing England has to Maradona is David Beckam.

David Beckam will need to get coaching qualification so as not to undermine the profession, but this is an ICU case. Fabio Capello had him in his armpit as a talisman. Those qualities are there. There is a long list of the "future of England" that include Milner, Ashley Young, Theo Walcott, Micah Richards and the like. They idolise this show-man guy. It will work while England sort out the mess.  

The elimination of France by South Africa, reigning world champions, Italy failing to pass the first round after drawing with New Zealand and losing to Slovenia and England's record defeat in the World Cup, losing 1-4 to Germany and Ghana's qualification into the quarters after beating USA were other big stories.

At this point, the best players in the world have not yet proved their worth. Kaka is still to score, so is Messi and the departed pair of Rooney and Ronaldo.

The FIFA technical committee consisting of coaches and instructors will be compiling a technical report of these games. I am not sure what issues they will pick up. The systems and formations will be under scrutiny. The general progress of the game will be evaluated.
