Completed Transfers - Deals and Charity Affairs.

The transfer market has closed after about GBP 345 million exchanged hands. A lot of it was basically players getting new homes. The few real deals were Tottenham Hotspurs' former Real Madrid player, Rafael van der Vaart. Spurs seem to be looking for experience to boost their Champions' League cause, but their current form is a little worry to me.

Eidur Gudjohnsen on loan from Fulham is a good deal for Stoke. Paul Konchesky went to Liverpool in a fair deal that I thought is not so significant. Gud had settled well at the Craven Cottage and there may have been personal issues that led him to want out. The good thing for Fulham is goalkeeper Schwarzer staying put.

Whatever AC Milan paid for Robinho, the wisdom of the deal will depend on how much soon he settles and if he makes the difference he should have been making already. He may find his feet in combining with Ronaldinho and even boost the form of the later.

Asamoah Gyan completed move that beat Darren Bent's record to Sunderland. For me this is the deal of the transfer window. Few teams will be comfortable containing both these strikers on a good day.

For their size, Birmingham City scored with former Arsenal and Barcelona player, Alexander Hleb. Hleb's move is a loan arrangement and will give them the depth they need.

It is sad to see Joseph Yobo leave Everton to Fenerbache, as it is for young Armand Traore leave Arsenal for Juventas. The Gunners could have utilised the creativeness of this youngster. One can only hope he has more chances at Juve.

Bafana Bafana's Mamelodi Sundowns defender Siboniso Gaxa moved to Belgium side Lierse SK, while Supersport's Bongani Khumalo will only move to Spurs in January. Simphiwe Tshabalala and Itumeleng Khune will not be going anywhere as Kaizer Chiefs were not impressed by the figures they were offered. The price tag issue kept Katlego Mphela at Sundowns until further notice.

Masibusane Zongo moved on loan from Supersport United to the Cape Town newcomers, Vasco Da Gama. Zongo is the next biggest thing in South African football if he keeps his head small and cool. Robyn Johannes from Mamelodi Sundowns to Orlando Pirates. Bryce Moon was singed by Golden Arrows.

A deadly free-kick specialist of all time, mop-head Ronald Koeman is said to have been interested in the Aston Villa job. American Bob Bradley was front-runner for the post but has since penned a 4 year deal with the USA association. Koeman said Villa were in touch with his agent last week.
